Enjoyable staycation for the school holiday at Best Western I-City

Saturday, November 10, 2018

2018 school break is almost here, what's your plan for the holidays? Kids must be so excited to welcome the school break (it's very apparent in Bella lol), but being 7 months pregnant with our 3rd baby means I don't think we are going anywhere far soon.

Anyway, as an option for the holidays, I was honoured to be given the opportunity to experience firsthand the wonders of I-City in Shah Alam, through our weekend staycation at Best Western I-City last weekend.

It was really fun for the kids, and I think it's a good place to entertain them if you happen to be in Shah Alam.

So what we did was enjoy the special Stay and Splash school holiday package offered by the hotel for the upcoming holiday season.

With it comes a 2D1N stay in Best Western I-City Shah Alam, breakfast for 2 and admission for 2 adults into the Waterworld, which is located like a 2-mins walk away from the hotel.

Let me take you through a tour of the hotel itself. I personally think it did a great job going the extra mile to ensure their patrons enjoy their stay, particularly with kids in tow.

Best Western I-City Shah Alam is located within the compound of I-City itself, making it easy to access all the features and theme parks of I-City (walking distance).

If you are staying here, all you need to do is park your car in the hotel parking and enjoy I-City for the rest of your stay without necessarily having to drive out.  There's even eateries around here, like Subway and KFC too. Parking for patrons is complimentary, so no need to worry about parking fees too.

Upon check-in, the kids were so happy that they actually get to rent a fish to bring up to our room and keep throughout our stay. The staff will do the feeding twice a day every day. Kids love to have pets so this is a great idea to make them feel welcomed.

There's also a free-flow popcorn for the family, apart from welcome drinks. Khaleeli had 2 helpings of popcorns (big fan obviously).

Our adopted fish was Grace. Bella and Khaleeli absolutely adored it, I had to make sure they don't carry the jar around like they carry a kitten. LOL.

We checked in to a room with a king-sized bed, but because the kids are bigger, we also had an extra bed for comfort. It was quite spacious and comfortable for the 4 of us, the washroom is designed tastefully with a modern touch too.

We planned to hit the Waterworld in the afternoon of our first day, but because it was raining heavily we decided to just do it the next day.

So for the afternoon, we hit the theme parks instead, particularly the Space Mission and 3D Trick Art Museum. At night, we went to the Ferris Wheel and kiddie rides and feasted our eyes on the pretty LED light trees that lit up at night.

There's plenty of other attractions as well, check them out here at the I-City Theme Park website.

Early the next morning, we enjoyed some delicious breakfast at the The View Cafe at Level 5. It literally is a cafe with a view of the Shah Alam skyline. Quite a pretty sight to enjoy while dining with the family.

Breakfast selection was aplenty, including cereals, egg station and roti canai station that is perfect for the kids too.

After that, we went straight to the Waterworld for the kids to enjoy some splashing time. It's not as fancy as Sunway Lagoon, but the place is nice enough for the kids to enjoy, especially at the children's area.

Since it is a Sunday, we also had a chance to enjoy the special Sunday Hi-Tea at The View Cafe, with a sumptuous spread of buffet that runs from 12.30pm - 4pm. What's unique about it is that they thoughtfully set up a kids area to keep the kids occupied with colouring while mommy and daddy eat, as well as fun games for them to play.

For just RM42 per adult, I think it is great enough considering the spread and the location. I personally think that the cafe space is great for a gathering with friends and family too (e.g parties, reunions, etc).

So after a full day of enjoyment of sun, water and food, we bode farewell to Best Western I-City happily.

Thank you so much for the hospitality, Best Western I-City. The kids really enjoyed the stay, and I am pretty sure that any family would easily enjoy the place just like we did.
